Remote Working
Remote working has many benefits for our clients and our employees too. Cost savings for commuting, office space and equipment; all much better for the environment. Our employees are more productive, have better morale with lower stress and improved mental health.
Around 82% of telecommuters have lower stress levels than in-house workers. Stress is a big contributor to mental health problems like anxiety and depression; so cutting this is obviously crucial to a productive workforce. Stress in the workplace is clearly negative for both workplace productivity and office communications and helps people on an individual and community level. So anything that curtails workplace stress is useful for offices!
Think about it. You get to wear clothes you feel comfortable in, sit (or slouch) in a way that makes you feel creative, and play obnoxious music you love. Put it bluntly, Remote Workers are more productive - working from home equals the dream working environment, so it’s not surprising homeworkers rank their productivity as 7.7/10, compared with 6.5/10 for office workers.
Working remotely has tangible benefits too. Less commuting, means more time spent working on your projects. In fact remote workers are more inclined to start their day early due to lack of commuting – and as they won’t be rushing to make a train, or avoid the traffic, at the end of the day, they are more inclined to stay an extra five minutes to finish off any tasks. One of the more obvious benefits of remote working is spending less – or nothing – on office space. Obviously office space comes at a cost, but that’s not the only expense where savings can be made. Electricity and water bills must be taken into account, as well as the costs of Wi-Fi. This means that the savings can be substantial; and every expense cut is, of course, a direct saving to the project and ultimately to a business’ profits!
In these times of environmental consciousness, it is not only cash that can be saved by working remotely.
It’s always good to be seen as a business that cares about the environment. Working from home also has environmental benefits, including:
- Less traffic polution resulting from fewer journeys.
- Less waste from disposable cups or containers during breaks.
- Conservation of office space.
- Being in control of factors that can damage the environment (such as office supplies, heating and the use of lights).
In this modern age of digital communication remote working is becoming increasingly popular, but we are not suggesting this is a panacea, or utopia that should be pursued at all costs. We know and understand that there are times when face to face communication is the best way to acheive a goal; we are always willing to meet the customers needs, whilst recognising that remote working is another important part of our toolkit.
